I am back in Antarctica, this time I have several things to do, but mainly checking the automation project at Halley (see: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-41819509) and working with Manchester University on the Iron Meteorites project (see: https://ukantarcticmeteorites.com/ ). This project is in two parts, Katie is scoping out likely meteor stranding zones (and the good news is that she has already found meteors) whilst Geoff and I and testing the equipment to find buried Iron metorites, this testing will take place at a blue ice area that is known as Sky Blu.
However, first we have to get there. We flew to Punta Arenas at the south end of Chile on the 2nd Jan. Punta is a nice place:

But unfortunately we got delayed here for the best part of a week, leaving little to do other than site see or run in the lovely Patagonian forest:
