More Antarctic exercise and saunas.

I have already talked about skiing and running but another very popular form of exercise at Halley this year is the Spinning bikes.

And what is better after a spin, ski or run than a sauna. Here is Penny in our sauna, it's built on site from waste materials but you wouldn't really know it - it works just as well as any sauna.

This is what it looks like on the outside.

The heater might look like a water heater and an old tool case but it works! And for the hardy there is plenty of snow to roll in outside.

  1. Antarctica is one of most beautiful place in the world and i have heard that lots people was celebrated this Christmas in Antarctica. Exercise is the best option while you get protection from cold.

  2. I think there could be a market for these little boxes, good idea for a new start up company. A little piece of Antarctic design in your own garden!

  3. Providing the wooden box is relatively easy, getting the snow into peoples gardebs might be a bit more tricky

  4. Personally I think Halley needs a Fat Bike or two. I'd love to see BAS put some through their paces

  5. Fat bikes would be brilliant. Years ago I took a mountain bike to Halley. The snow surface is surprisingly hard in winter but there is always a soft spot waiting to get you

  6. This definitely looks tempting! Going to a sauna is really a great treat, especially if your body feels tired and exhausted from exercising or doing any strenuous activity. I'm sure all the participants of the event were thankful after their turn in sauna. And looking at the sauna, I can never guess that it is made out of waste material. I always wanted to have my own sauna and this was just the right idea to consider. Thanks for sharing this post. :)
