Getting to Rothera

It's is 15800km of flying between London and Rothera so most of the time getting here is spent sitting in a uncomfortable seat in a tin tube, or waiting in airports for the next plane. The commercial journey to Punta Arenas is pretty much the same as any flight anywhere although a bonus for me this year was an excellent view of Fitzroy which I treked around a life time ago.

Once at Punta we met up with our lovely Red airplane the Dash 7,

This a wheeled aircraft, as Rothera has a gravel runway. And here I am with Peter the Penguin inside the Dash.

Here is Peter the penguin checking out what the pilots upto.

Loading up the Kindle and MP3 Player.

I am back off to Halley again in two weeks time - a shorter trip this year, only about a month away. Time to fire up the blog and load the kindle and MP3 player.
